When I started blogging about my ballet journey, I had no idea who I'd meet along the way, and the experiences I might have. Although a little bit tentative at first, I was happy to embrace whatever came my way.
This week, I found a really sweet email in my inbox from Melissa from across the globe in the UK, blogger at Lover of Dance. She's been holding Inspirational Week with awards on bloggers, dancers and Things in General, and has nominated 52 Weeks as one of her Top 11 blogs! I am most honoured to be on Melissa's list of inspirational blogs but more than that, I'm blown away by her passion, creativity and her positive, can-do attitude, so please do visit her blog if you have time, and say hello.
Melissa would like us to nominate our most inspirational bloggers, and pass on the award. It's almost impossible to whittle down the list from the many I love, but here are my top 5. In the spirit of keeping Melissa's initiative going within the online dance community, I have decided to keep my selection to dance-related blogs only, so here they are:
- Dance Advantage by Nichelle Strzepek – Nichelle’s blog is jam-packed with great dance solutions, inspiration, and motivation. Time always flies whenever I visit this site.
- 4Dancers by Catherine Tully - I'm always amazed by how prolific Catherine and her team are; the interviews, profiles and topics covered are so varied and really interesting.
- The Ballet Blog by Lisa Howell – there’s great information about our body, flexibility and technique from a well-acclaimed dance physiotherapist here. The amazing thing is that they are literally just down the road from where I live and I am now their client, having found them through the web and also hearing a lot about them from fellow dancers!
- Dave Tries Ballet by David Wilson - his journey as a 20-something starting ballet is a great and entertaining read, inspiring to all of us adult dancers (whatever age we may have started at).
- Tights and Tiara by Henrik Lamark – I love Henrik’s humorous and enlightening insights into the life of a male professional dancer.

Dear Jean,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I hope this will be a way for so many others to discover your wonderful blog. I have just wasted a glorious hour running through some of the other blogs you listed and I think I have a little ballet crush on Dave. Cheers to all who step into the world of adult ballet and never ever look back or question why but just DO IT!
Thanks for your kind words, Lynda! I wonder if Dave knows he's been developing a little following here Down Under... It is a great world to step into, and here's hoping we get to keep DOING IT for many more decades. Cheers to that!
ReplyDeleteYou sure are sweet to include me in your list! And your blog is pretty terrific! :) Take care!
